I bought both of these for my business and returned one. If you’re on video calls with clients, I’d go with the C920x. Here’s why.
My setup
My desk is in the basement, and I use a ring light. Most of my calls are on Zoom, with some Google Meet and Teams, all on a Windows computer. I use an external speaker for sound, so I didn’t test either camera’s built-in mic. I used the C270 for a few days before returning it, so this isn’t a long-term review. I kept the C920x.
The difference that mattered
The C270 had no way for me to adjust the view. I couldn’t find any setting to zoom in or out, so the frame was whatever it was.
The C920x lets me zoom in and out from my computer with Logitech’s software, so I can frame myself without rearranging my desk. That’s the reason I kept it.
The specs, from Logitech’s site
- C270: 720p at 30fps, 55° field of view
- C920x: 1080p at 30fps, 78° field of view, plus software to adjust zoom and framing
What I wish were different
I’d like a little more zoom from the C920x. It’s still the better of the two, but if you want a very tight frame, keep that in mind.
Which one to buy
- C920x: If you’re on camera with clients regularly and want control over your framing.
- C270: If you just need a basic, inexpensive camera for occasional calls.
